As part of the Science, Knowledge, Translation and Ethics Branch, the purpose of this position is to contribute to the planning and management of specific CIHR initiatives related to Indigenous Health Research (IHR). The incumbent will be responsible for the management and oversight of IHR-related initiatives and is accountable for the execution of work plans and the development of deliverables.
Strong knowledge of the Indigenous health research landscape in Canada, project management expertise, and experience in Indigenous stakeholder engagement are integral components of the Project Lead, Indigenous Health Research role. The successful incumbent will have demonstrated that they have ample experience and strong skills in all three of these areas.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an acceptable combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience.

• Experience in managing multiple projects and activities concurrently with varying deadlines
• Experience in identifying, accessing, synthesizing, analyzing and using evidence and sound reasoning to provide advice to senior management
*Recent and significant experience refers to the breadth and depth of experience and is defined as a combination of time spent doing the activity, as well as the type (range, scope, and complexity) of work handled related to the experience criteria. Such experience is normally acquired when having performed the duties over a period of 2 years within the last 5 years.

Knowledge of the health research environment in Canada
1) This staffing competition is considering Indigenous persons who will self-declare as an Indigenous person as priority candidates. An Indigenous person is a North American Indian or a member of a First Nation, Métis or Inuit. North American Indians or members of a First Nation include treaty status or registered Indians, as well as non-status and non-registered Indians. Preference and priority will be given to those who self-identify as an Indigenous person, but in the event that no candidates from the employment equity group meet the criteria of the position, non-indigenous persons may be considered.
2) One indeterminate position is presently available; a pool of pre-qualified candidates may be established to staff future identical positions within CIHR with various tenures (assignment, term or indeterminate), various security and or various linguistic profiles.
