As one of Mount Royal University’s most diverse faculties, Arts offers majors in Anthropology, English, History, Policy Studies, Psychology, and Sociology within the Bachelor of Arts, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Interior Design.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts leads a dynamic academic unit that consists of engaged learners, inspired professors and committed staff members. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Dean is responsible for the overall management of the Faculty of Arts, leading the collegial governance process in the Faculty and providing effective leadership for students, faculty, and the University arts community. While being responsive to the needs of the community, the Dean will articulate the goals, objectives and priorities of the Faculty and assure the attainment of the highest possible standards in every dimension of the unit’s activities. Understanding the varying needs and priorities of each of the diverse programs in the Faculty of Arts, the Dean will be an advocate for the Faculty and identify opportunities for collaborative work between departments on programs and projects of mutual benefit. Working creatively within the framework of the Institutional Strategic Plan and Academic Plan, the Dean will play an essential role in Mount Royal realizing its vision to provide an exceptional undergraduate educational experience to all students.
