The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is a federal Crown corporation with a mandate to promote efficient and effective standardization in Canada. The organization reports to Parliament through the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and oversees Canada's national standardization network. The Standards Council carries out a variety of functions intended to ensure the effective and coordinated operation of standardization in Canada. It also represents Canada's interests on standards-related matters in foreign and international forums. Standards help to ensure better, safer and more efficient methods and products, and are an essential element of technology, innovation and trade. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Accreditation Services (VP) leads and oversees the development of policies, programs and long range plans for the Accreditation Services Branch. The VP collaborates with customers, governments, and international organizations to manage existing business agreements while concurrently developing joint business arrangements and partnerships, and examining both potential and associated risks. The VP manages and maintains the SCC accreditation program and ensures that accreditation programs and services align with the SCC mandate and reflect its strategic priorities. Finally, the VP will be responsible for the leadership of a high-performing and highly adaptable team that is focused on service delivery. As the ideal candidate, you have a successful track record of establishing and cultivating effective relationships with officials of government, industry and international organizations, ideally in the broader Canadian innovation landscape. You are a strategic business developer and skilled in operational planning, budgeting and forecasting. You have experience directing and overseeing the development and implementation of strategies and are an excellent communicator. Finally, you are an experienced and highly effective manager of people and hold a university degree in a discipline related to the position. Proficiency in both official languages will be considered an asset.
