The Department of Chemical Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s University, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, or Environmental Remediation Engineering. The preferred start date of the appointment is July 1, 2018.
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline (or be near completion) at the start date of the appointment, preferably combined with postdoctoral or industrial experience. The main criteria for selection are academic research and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the department’s programs. The ability to interact collaboratively with faculty in one of the department’s research areas of strength will be considered an asset (www.chemeng.queensu.ca). The successful candidate will be expected to establish a leading-edge research program of international reputation, supervise graduate students, provide effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, actively engage with industry, and make administrative contributions through service to the University, Faculty, Department and profession. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada, or eligibility to acquire registration in Canada, is an essential requirement of the position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
