Maintenance Power Systems Electrician
Reporting to the Kearl Plant Maintenance Power Distribution Supervisor, the Power Systems Electrician will be responsible for the maintenance of a variety of facilities and equipment in a fully functional oil sands operation.
Responsibilities include operating, maintaining and repairing a variety of high-voltage electrical systems, including 4.16 KV, 13.8 KV, 72KV and 250 KV; SAP notification entry, as well as E-Maintenance entry requests; assisting in development of maintenance strategies and best practices for the Kearl Mine operations and its facilities; and serving as the Area Operator or Isolating Authority for the Power Distribution Department.
This position will be a full-time fly-in, fly-out role to our Kearl site from either Calgary or Edmonton. Relocation assistance to Calgary or Edmonton is available, if required. Bus transportation is also available to Kearl from Fort McMurray at the beginning and end of each shift rotation, typically 11 days on and 9 days off (shift rotations start and finish with a partial-day shift). Safe, secure, quiet accommodations, including a private room/washroom, will be provided for employees on rotating work schedules.
The successful applicant will possess a combination of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Electrical Journeyperson with Interprovincial Red Seal certification, plus 5 years of applicable experience
- Familiarity with Powell Medium Voltage switchgear and overhead power line distribution systems, Siemens and Asea Brown Boveri Gas Insulated Switchgear
- Preference given to Power Systems Electrician
- Experience with high-voltage equipment
- General Electric Multilin Relay experience
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and safe driving record
