The Homeowner Protection Office, a branch of BC Housing, is responsible for licensing residential builders and building envelope renovators, administering owner builder authorizations, and carrying out research and education which benefits the residential construction industry and consumers. These responsibilities help bring about improvements in the quality of residential construction in B.C. and helps strengthen consumer protection for buyers of new homes.

A rewarding opportunity for a real estate professional with leadership skills.

As an experienced real estate professional with knowledge and skill in leading a team in the buying, selling, leasing and management of real property, you would be part of a dynamic provincial government organization that develops and manages a variety of real estate using best business practice and with a social mandate.

Your team will identify properties to acquire for various program needs, negotiate the purchase agreements and undertake due diligence.  They also manage the marketing and sale of properties no longer required.

Your team will manage BC Housing's corporate lease program (as tenant), as well as BC Housing’s commercial lease portfolio (as landlord). Your team will also manage roof-top licenses, assessment appeals, requests for easements and rights-of-way and provide strategic real estate advice.

Your ability to create and sustain effective working relationships with tenants, landlords, realtors, lawyers, appraisers, consultants and multiple stakeholders will be a key factor of your success in balancing and managing competing objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a degree or diploma in business administration with a specialization in urban land economics (or the equivalent) and a minimum five years experience in transacting or management of real property. Accreditation with a recognized real estate organization such as the Real Estate Institute of BC or Canada, or the Appraisal Institute of Canada is essential, as are effective communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and consensus building skills.
