The University seeks a forward-thinking President and Vice-Chancellor who will lead students, faculty and staff with focus and inspiration. The President will provide progressive and dynamic institutional, academic and administrative leadership, while also serving as the University’s chief advocate and principal ambassador. Reporting to the Board of Governors, the President will collaboratively continue to evolve and champion UOIT’s unique identity and vision, while it matures as an exceptional STEAM-focused, career-oriented, socially conscious and research-intensive university.
The role requires an individual who will encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, foster good and collegial governance, and ensure operational effectiveness. They must also lead fundraising efforts, continue to build and lead high-performing, cohesive and collaborative leadership teams, and embrace innovation and entrepreneurship.
Success requires executive leadership skills and administrative acumen. It also requires vision, energy, dedication to the University’s evolution, and the ability to inspire its students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, advocate and ambassador, who is committed to excellence in research, teaching, and learning, and promoting student experience and success.
With a distinguished record of academic achievement,the ideal candidate possesses successful leadership experience in a university or similar complex organization, strategic planning experience, and the ability to develop and maintain strong synergistic partnerships. Industry experience, or strong relationships with industry and the public sector is preferred. Lastly, the ideal candidate is deeply committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and to UOIT’s student- and community-centred values.
