Reporting to the Service Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls, and new builds for construction, forestry, utility and mining related equipment. This position will employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting.
Resonsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on heavy equipment servicing the construction, forestry, utility, and mining industries.
Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
Making recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
Thinking logically and keep up with changes in technology.
Interpreting work order and technical manuals.
Completing job specific reports and paperwork as needed.
Having a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
Working in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
Working remotely in adverse weather conditions. Job tasks may be physically demanding lifting up to 50 lbs. Confined Space work is required.
Other duties as required
The successful candidate will possess a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other requirements include, but are not limited to:
• Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset
• Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy duty equipment
• Experience with Komatsu Equipment is considered an asset
• Strong commitment to safety
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Position is based at Gahcho Kue’ minesite (GKP), NT. Work schedule will be 14 on x 14 off, fly in and out of Edmonton.
