Kearl Maintenance Shutdown Planner – Calgary, Alberta
Based in Calgary and reporting to the Long Range Planning Supervisor, the Maintenance Shutdown Planner works within the guidelines of the shutdown management system and participates in contractual preparations and evaluations, with a focus on schedules and deliverables. The planner works with all stakeholders (e.g., Safety, Inspection, Operations, Operations Technical, Logistics) to gather and package all necessary documents; estimates all activities required to perform the work (e.g., pre-shutdown, mechanical, inspection, repair, close, start-up, post); works with staff, contractors and vendors to plan for repairs and prepare lists of all specialty tools, materials and equipment required; and loads information (activities, resources, tools, contractors, cost) in the work order in a timely fashion. The planner controls work orders for the shutdowns and participates in the post-shutdown review session.
The successful applicant will possess a combination of the following:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Minimum of 5 years’ related experience
Expert knowledge of mine maintenance processes and oil sands
Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written are
required for the candidate to be successful
Strong commitment to internal customer service, workforce development,
personal initiative and team development
SAP Experience as well as Project or Primavera experience are strongly
Oil sands processing experience would be considered an asset
Expert knowledge with heavy industry planning, scheduling and execution
Thorough working knowledge of maintenance and reliability practices
Continuous improvement skills and commitment to best practices
Ability to build good, respectful working relationships
